The Horicon varsity volleyball team faced a busy week of competition, dropping two road matches before picking up a pair of victories during Saturday’s tournament action.
Horicon opened the week Tuesday, Oct. 6, traveling to Lourdes Academy, where the Marshladies fell 3-0.
The Marshladies returned to the court Thursday, Oct. 8, traveling to Randolph for a five-set battle.
Horicon came out strong, taking the opening set 25-15 before edging the Rockets 25-21 in the second to build a 2-0 advantage.
Randolph responded in the third set, winning 25-14, before taking control of the fourth with a 25-9 victory to force a deciding fifth set.
The Rockets carried that momentum into the final set, winning 15-3 to complete the comeback and hand Horicon a 3-2 loss.
Marshladies Pick Up Two Tournament Wins
Horicon returned to tournament action Saturday, picking up two victories against Cambria-Friesland and Parkview.
The Marshladies swept Cambria-Friesland 2-0 and followed with another 2-0 victory over Parkview.
Horicon also faced Palmyra-Eagle, falling 2-0. A match against Madison Country Day was also listed among Saturday’s competition, but a final result was not available.
The Marshladies finished the week with an 11-13 record and will host Random Lake at 7:15 p.m. The Rams enter the matchup with a 5-15 overall record and a 1-5 conference mark.
