The Horicon cross country teams competed twice last week, traveling to Sheboygan Lutheran for the Crusader Challenge on Tuesday, Sept. 15, before heading to the Johnson Creek Invite on Thursday, Sept. 17.
Sawyer Herrmann led the Marshmen in both meets, including a runner-up finish at Johnson Creek, where the Horicon boys placed second as a team.
At Tuesday’s Crusader Challenge, Herrmann finished 24th in the boys 5K with a time of 18:55.6. Joey Hintz followed in 57th at 20:20.2, while Eli DeHoyos placed 83rd in 21:30.1.
On the girls side, Molly Slade led Horicon with a 55th-place finish in 24:16.5. Kaitlyn Wiard placed 69th in 24:50.1, followed by Abby Baker in 74th at 25:00.0.
Johnson Creek Invite
Herrmann turned in another strong performance Thursday, finishing second in the boys 5K with a time of 18:26.4. His effort helped Horicon secure second place in the team standings with 32 points, behind Markesan’s 23.
Hintz finished ninth in 20:37.2, while DeHoyos placed 11th in 20:53.5. Felix Rodriguez followed in 12th at 21:16.1, and Morgan Billington rounded out Horicon’s top five in 15th at 22:06.4.
The Horicon girls finished third as a team with 51 points, behind Johnson Creek (34) and Markesan (37).
Slade led the Marshladies with a fourth-place finish in 23:43.4. Baker also earned a top-10 finish, placing sixth in 25:12.5.
Myah Hasby finished 13th in 28:22.28, followed by Keleigh Holl in 14th at 29:10.8. Mireya Zamora rounded out Horicon’s top five, placing 17th in 30:50.3.
Up Next: Horicon will host the Horicon River Run on Thursday, Sept. 24, at River Bend Park in Horicon. Racing begins at 4 p.m.
