Betty J. Steger


Betty J. (Leichtle) Steger, 92, a resident of Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. She was born in 1928 to Adolph and Angeline German in Fond du Lac. Betty graduated from Mayville High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon Lau on April 24, 1948. Vernon passed away. On November 28, 1964, she then married Clarence Steger and celebrated 50 years until he passed in 2015. Betty was a telephone operator in Theresa and then worked for Maysteel as a telephone operator/receptionist for many years. Together Betty and Clarence owned and operated “Clarence and Betty’s Tavern” in Theresa. She enjoyed going Sturgeon Spearing and bullhead fishing on the Rock River. She loved playing sheepshead, bingo, and enjoyed her trips to Oneida Casino. She enjoyed time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Betty had many health challenges in her lifetime, but through her deep faith, strong will and determination, she always found a way to move forward. Those Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two children, D. Michael “Ching” (Jean) Lau of Theresa, and Connie (Dave) Kusek of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Beth (Jackson Hanft) Kusek, Mary Rose (Michael) Rohman and Michael Lau; a great-grandson, Henry David “Huck” Hanft; a brother, Tom (Shirley) Leichtle; a sister, Annamae (Frank) Marrese; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pattee Lau; a granddaughter, Leah Lau; a brother, Paul (Millie) Leichtle; a sister, Marie (Lester) Beck; four sisters-in-law, Betty (Carl) Bandle, Lorinda (Vilas) Adelmeyer, Bernice (Harvey) Lindert, and Norma (Bob) Walther; five brothers-in-law, Merle (Anita) Steger and Lawrence (Lucille) Steger, Jr., Harvey (Nora) Lau, Ruben (Tannie) Lau, and Palmer (Eleanor) Lau. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Betty. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials to the Theresa Legion Post #270 in Betty’s name would be appreciated. Dennis Dean Bolstad, 62, of Horicon passed away on January 11, 2021, at the Aurora Medical Center in Burlington. Dennis was born the son of Elmer Bolstad, Jr. and Diane Kehl on May 17, 1958. He was a 1977 graduate of Horicon High School. He was employed at John Deere Company in Horicon until his retirement. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved listening to oldies music and taking rides on his Harley. He will be deeply missed by many. God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered ‘come with me.’ God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. Dennis is survived by his mother, Diane Schlegel of Horicon; his partner of 19 years, Bri Sisco of Horicon; his brother, Greg (Dianne) Bolstad of Wautoma; his sisters, Debbie (Todd) Wolter of Mayville and Sherry (Vic) Apfelbeck of Mayville; his nieces and nephews, Angela (Tim) Gorman, Amy (special friend Brady) Meimann, Tanya (Brent) Beine, Samantha Sisco, Courtney Wolter, Adam (Leah) Bolstad, Trever (Kendra) Apfelbeck, and Jeremy Wolter; his great-nieces and nephews, Keaton, Colin, Abby, Rylee, Mitch, Mason, and Seth; further survived by other relatives and friends. Nancy was born January 8, 1945, in Hartford, to Fern B. (Werner) and George J. Kress. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” T. Schoebel on May 14, 1966, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Nancy enjoyed reading, puzzles, girl’s outings and trips with her daughters and granddaughter, card luncheons and gambling with friends, and most of all time spent with her family. Nancy is survived by her loving children, Kim (Craig) Hahn of Germantown, Kelly Schoebel of Theresa, and Kerri (Philip)Frey of Johnson Creek, and extended family Kris Watry of Horicon; cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Collin, Lauren Hahn, and Josie Frey; siblings, Karen Madell of Hartford, Kaye (Harold) Schladweiler of Kewaskum; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Hoerth of Hartford, Mary (Bob) Aufdermauer of Allenton, and Sue Kress of Tomahawk. She is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Jack; loving son, Kurt R. Wayne D. Lindert, 79, of Horicon, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. Wayne was born the son of Otto and Lena (Luebke) Lindert on August 18, 1941. Wayne was a 1959 graduate of Horicon High School. He farmed alongside his family for many years and then was a custodian until retirement at Hustisford High School. Wayne was a lifetime member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville faithfully serving as a past elder and usher. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his lawn and also enjoyed baking. Wayne will he fondly remember as a hard worker who often put others before himself. Wayne is survived by his nieces, Judy (Robert) Rassman and Sherry (Peter) Gebauer, both of Horicon; further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille Lindert, Ethel Getzman, Helen Hackbarth, and Verona Knueppel; and his brother, Marvin Lindert. Eilbes, 56, of LeRoy passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021. Warren was born the son of Edward and Mary Ann (Tomala) Eilbes on May 13, 1964, in Waupun. Warren was a 1982 graduate of Mayville High School. He had worked for over 20 years at Maysteel in Allenton. Warren was currently employed at Metalcraft in Mayville. Warren’s faith in God was important to him and he was a faithful member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy In his spare time, Warren loved to garden and cook. He also loved taking dance classes. Warren was a natural caretaker for others as well, especially for his mother after she had suffered a stroke. Warren will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, his humor, and his willingness to put others before himself. Warren is survived by his siblings, Jackie (Mark) Kahlhamer of Mayville, Fran (Peggy) Eilbes of Mayville, and Craig (Mary Beth) Eilbes of LeRoy.; his nieces and nephews, Robyn (Josh Kaiser) Huizenga, Aaron (Meagen) Kahlhamer, Laura (Michael) Watkins, Amanda (partner David) Eilbes, and Katelyn Eilbes; his niece and goddaughter, Melissa (partner Sawyer) Eilbes; his nephew and godson, Jonathan (partner Heather) Eilbes. She was born on July 14, 1957, in Hartford, a daughter of Clarence and Virginia (Musack) Wendorff. She married Rick Alexander, Sr. on March 30, 1991, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. Cheryl was raised in Iron Ridge and settled in Antigo. She was a certified nursing assistant. She was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Antigo, where she was an organist and sang in the choir. Cheryl enjoyed fishing, camping, ceramics and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Rick; five children, Shelly Powers (Dirk Carlson) of Baraboo, Steven Alexander of New London, Ricky (Amanda) Alexander Jr. of Minot, ND, Tonya Alexander of Antigo and Ryan (Sydney) Alexander of Surrey, ND; five grandchildren, Bentley Carlson, Emily Alexander, Rowen and Luca Alexander, and Ryder Alexander; her mother, Virginia Wendorff; six brothers, Clarence Wendorff, Jr., Don (Carolyn) Wendorff, Gary (Marion) Wendorff, Gene (Kathi) Wendorff, Terry (Laura) Wendorff, Scott (Jaclyn) Wendorff; two sisters, Lynn (David) Riese and Robin (Jeffery) Carter; two brothers-in-law, Brian (Ann) Tunak, Gary (Susan) Alexander; three sisters-in-law, Michelle Wendorff, Carmel Wendorff and Sandy Alexander. Mary Lou Oechsner

Mary Lou Oechsner


Mary Lou Oechsner, 91, joined our Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021 at her home. Mary Lou was born on March 19, 1929, in Beaver Dam, to John and Agnes (Thiede) Weber. She attended St. Pete’s Catholic School, where she was baptized, confirmed and later married. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School with the class of 1946. During her senior year of high school, she worked part-time at the 5 and Dime Store. After graduation, she worked full-time at Phoenix Hosery in Beaver Dam until marriage. On April 23, 1949, she married Francis Oechsner at St. Pete’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. They settled and made Horicon their home. She was a receptionist, secretary and book-keeper for many of the businesses that she and Francis started throughout the years. She was also a full-time mother of nine children. And to some of their friends, she was known as “MOO”. Mary Lou was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish, Horicon. She was a woman of strong Christian faith. She lived a full life with family and church being the center of it. She was the most sweet, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (Mimi). Her world revolved happily around them all. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, casino trips, gardening, watching the Packer games on TV (attended the Ice Bowl) and watching the kids sporting/school events. But most of all, her true love was spending time with her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her entire family will always cherish the memories “Grandma, Grandma, Grandma” Mary Lou is survived by her nine children, Cisco (Sallie) Oechsner of Burnett, Mike (Sherry) Oechsner of Waupun, Shirley Stanul of Mauston, Pete (Susan) Oechsner of Horicon, Dan (Susan) Oechsner of Waupun, Sharon (Wayne Martin) Oechsner of Horicon, Sheila (Donald) Davidson of Horicon, Shelley Cundy of Horicon and Barry Oechsner of Horicon; her 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, John Weber, Ted Weber, Barb Schwarze and Aggie Frederiksen; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; granddaughters, Michele Boyland and Amber Oechsner; brothers and sisters, Jim Weber, Paul Weber, Al Weber and Elaine Schultz; brothers- and sisters-in-law. Due to current health restrictions, a private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon with the Rev. Justin Lopina presiding. Reisetter, 80, of Iron Ridge, passed away on December 28, 2020, at her home in Iron Ridge. Judith was born August 5, 1940, in Oregon Township, Ogle County, IL, the oldest child of John and Mildred (Jones) Dyer. After graduating from Oregon Community High School, she worked in Dixon, IL, at J.C.Penney Co. and Shurhit Ignition Products. On December 28, 1963, in Compton, IL, she married Marion Reisetter of Lee, IL, where Marion was engaged in farming. A year later they moved to Iron Ridge, where Marion operated a mobile feed business and farmed. Judy was his bookkeeper, gopher, and helped wherever she was needed. Marion and Judy owned an apartment building for 20 years and a small laundromat for nine years, both of which Judy managed and operated. In later years she drove cars part-time for Ewald Ford in Hartford. Her hobbies were baking, reading, crossword puzzles, genealogy, and Iron Ridge history. She had an extensive collection of Iron Ridge historical information, postcards, and artifacts. She also enjoyed going to antique tractor shows with Marion. Judy was a member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, and a member of the St. Matthew’s Ladies Aid for 25 years. She was a member of the Neosho/Rubicon Historical Society, of which she was president for 10 years. Judy is survived by her husband, Marion; daughter, Carol (Lance) Rzepka of Hartford, and son, James (Stacey) Reisetter of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Jennifer (David, Jr.) Saegert of Hartford, Kelsey (Aaron) Lofberg of West Bend, and Bethani Reisetter of Beaver Dam; great-grandsons, Owen and Lucas Saegert, and step-grandson, Chase Reisetter Wild of Ripon; sisters, Loretta “Lori” Falgout of Ocean Springs, MS, Suzanne Slyfield of IN; brothers, Arnold (Joyce) Dyer of Burnett, Reynolds “Butch” (Rose) Dyer of Huntley, IL, Kevin, (Terri) Dyer of Kenosha, Chris (Shawn) Dyer of Lenoir, NC; sisters-in-law, Sandra Dyer of Fort Gratiot, MI, Oliva Wright of Grinnell, IA; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter, Beatrice; her parents; sister, Katherine Allen; brother, Marion “Jake” Dyer, and sisters, Helen and Iva in infancy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dale Allen, Joe Falgout, Bervin and Kathy Nelson, Lucille Nelson, Luther and Karen Nelson, and David and Sheri Nelson. Visitation:  Saturday, Jan. 9, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.  Service:  Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m.  Location:  Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac Lorraine Frieda (Brandt) Pluedeman, 85 years, formerly of Kekoskee, died peacefully on December 28, 2020, at Woodlands Senior Park. Lorraine was born the daughter of Herbert and Eleanor (Kuells) Brandt in the Town of Cedarburg on August 10, 1935. On September 29, 1956, she was united in marriage with Russell L. Pluedeman at Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Theresa. She retired from Mayville Metal Products as a spot welder. Lorraine was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac and a former member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Following retirement, she loved to rock the babies at St. John’s Child Care, play cards, drive her friends to the Amish store, and listening to polka music. Lorraine is survived by her four children, Kathleen (Rick) Korb of Fond du Lac, Roger (Carol) Pluedeman of Eagle River, Karen (Bob) Carroll of Leesburg, FL, and Richard (Wendy) Pluedeman of Eagle River; brother, Ronald (Marian) Brandt of Cedarburg; eight grandchildren, Sara Pluedeman, Jason Pluedeman, Elizabeth Sazama, Cassandra (Zachary) Vircks, Jacob (Amber) Pluedeman, Ashley (Kurt) Woodruff, Kimberly (Bryan) Barfknecht and Christopher Carroll; seven great-grandchildren, Lydia, Jonah, Nolan, Edward, Dawson, Kinsley, and Elise. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Roland (Dorothy) Schroeder of Horicon; sister-in-law, Hildegarde Brandt of Cedarburg, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, on October 9, 2020; brothers, Wilmer (Joanne) Brandt and Allen Brandt. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac with the Rev. Philip Enderle officiating. Due to Emergency Order #1 under Executive Order #82, masks are required while in attendance. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Cemetery in Mayville. O’Brien, 92, formerly of Mayville, passed away on December 29, 2020, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira, due to complications after Covid-19. Marge was born Margaret A. Bath on November 17, 1928, in Mayville, to Paul and Caroline (Hefter) Bath (deceased.) On November 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bias C. O’Brien at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. Marge enjoyed crocheting, reading, plants and watching birds. She liked to surprise her grandchildren (and children) with what was in the candy dish. A dessert could always be expected after every meal. At Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center, she enjoyed the challenge of word search books.
