They stick out like three fingertips jammed up thru the ice from lake’s bottom. A trio of shanties close to shore, only a stone’s throw away. More on the near horizon, a village grown across the frozen surface almost overnite. This is Wisconsin in the dead of winter. Leastwise, round our stretch of country.
