Lorraine Ephrosyne Emma (Christian) Steinbach

Lorraine Ephrosyne Emma (Christian) Steinbach, 97, of Mayville, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living.
Lorraine was born in Town Theresa, on February 13, 1924, the sixth of nine children born to Herman and Selma (Nickel) Christian. She was baptized February 24, 1924, at home by Pastor C. P. Thusius. She was confirmed June 5, 1938, by Pastor H. H. Laabs at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hochheim, and graduated from Mayville High School in 1942.
She married Edward H. Steinbach on October 31, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town Theresa.
Lorraine and Edward lived on the Steinbach homestead just east of Mayville, working together in dairy farming, truck farming, and the establishment of Steinbach Strawberries. They moved to Mayville in 1997.
Lorraine was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, belonged to Immanuel Lights, and enjoyed quilting for charity. Her hobbies included sewing, baking, canning, quilting and, in later years, Silver Sneakers.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Genevieve Day, Fairfield Glade, TN; Virginia (Rev. Jack) Cascione, Marana, AZ; Anita (Kenneth) Eichinger, Bremen, IN; Brenda (Boyd) Mueller, Whitehall, MI; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Leola Christian, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward, in 2002; one infant granddaughter; son-in-law, Edward Day; three sisters, Hertha Vorlob, Erna Schrab, Bernice Haag; five brothers, Herbert, Hilbert, Ewald, Darvin, Donald.
Lorraine now rests in the arms of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, in her heavenly home. “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.” Rev. 2:10
Visitation took place on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) N8076 County Rd. AY, Mayville, WI 53050 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service conducted by the Rev. Douglas Zahner. Burial took place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Lorraine’s family thanks the staff at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living and Generations Hospice for all their care and support.
