Samuel O. “Sam” Gudex was taken home to Heaven on Jan­u­ary 24, 2022.
He was born Oc­to­ber 9, 1927, in the Town of Eden to Samuel S. and Lorena (Ma­jerus) Gudex.
Sam mar­ried Beat­rice Williams on June 2, 1951. Dad and Mom farmed to­gether in the town of Auburn, mak­ing many im­prove­ments to Sam-Ber-Tom Farms. Dad had a great love for any­thing John Deere.
Sam was ac­tive in many farm or­ga­ni­za­tions, in­clud­ing Farm Bu­reau and served on the town board and var­i­ous com­mit­tees. He was on the St. Lucas Lutheran Church stew­ard­ship com­mit­tee, build­ing com­mit­tee, and count­ing team for many years. He was a 4-H elec­tric­ity pro­ject leader.
Sam is sur­vived by his wife of 70 years, Beat­rice and the eight chil­dren they were blessed with, JoAnn (Bill) Maedke of Eden, Tom (Sandy) of Lan­non, Bernie of Eden, Shirley (Dan) Rose of Eden, Barb Polzin of Maple­wood, MN, Carol Nell of Al­goma, Kathy (Mark) Kraus of Fond du Lac, and Sam of West Vir­ginia. He is fur­ther sur­vived by 24 grand­chil­dren; 44 great-grand­chil­dren; his brother, Nor­man Gudex; sis­ters-in-law, LouAnn Gudex and Jeanette (Rick) Zacharias; brother-in-law, Richard (Joanne) Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre­ceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Nell; two great-grand­chil­dren; broth­ers, Loren and John; and sis­ters, Viola Gellings, Marie Sabish, and Jo­hanna Runge.
Vis­i­ta­tion will be Thurs­day, Jan. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. fol­lowed by a fu­neral ser­vice at 6 p.m. at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive, Ke­waskum, with a pri­vate bur­ial Fri­day morn­ing.
