Janet Joan Flitter

 

Janet Joan Flitter, 83, formerly of Campbellsport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Edenbrook of Fond du Lac with her family at her side.

She was born on November 23, 1937, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Beeschke) Hackbarth. She attended a number of rural grade schools in the Armstrong area and graduated from Campbellsport High School. Janet married David Joseph Flitter on July 11, 1959.

She worked at Bauers Hatchery, Gilbert Shoe Factory, Regalware and part-time as an aide at St. Joseph Convent. Janet then returned to school at Moraine Park and graduated as an LPN and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend and Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Campbellsport.

Janet loved her flowers and enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds (Cardinals), fishing and bow hunting, the cabin up north and the many campfires. Janet loved her grandchildren and sharing time with them and her favorite dog, Catrina.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (special friend Lori Murphy) Flitter; grandchildren, Jennifer (special friend Tom Reynolds) Flitter, Aric (Sara) Flitter and Alyssa (Nicholas) Poppe; great-grandchildren, Gwenyth Loomis and Michael Flitter; brother, George Hackbarth; sister-in-law, Rose Hackbarth; brother-in-law, Richard (Jean) Flitter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, David, on September 30, 2014; in-laws, Joseph and Marie Flitter; siblings, Gertrude (Wendell) Engels, Dorothy (Leander) Lefeber, Joyce (Roger) Lefeber, Mary (Ivan) Vorderbruggen, Lester Hackbath, Elmer “Butch” (Viola) Hackbarth, William (Gloria) Hackbarth and an infant brother and sister-in-law, Beverly Hackbarth.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 22, at 6 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St., Campbellsport. Rev. Mark Jones will celebrate and burial of cremated remains will be Saturday, October 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthews Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Matthew Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Hospital.

The family extends a special thank you to the staffs of Edenbrook and Heartland Hospice, especially Erin, and to Jennifer Flitter and Carol Engelhardt for their love and care shown Janet.
