MITCHELL BRADLEY KELLER Six years before the release of beatnik author Jack Kerouac’s seminal novel On The Road (1957), three Horicon High School graduates took part in what has become a formative American past time: a cross-country road trip. The year was 1951, and three young adults hit the highway for California in a 1929 Model A Ford, which was painted orange and black. The final destination was Royce S. Wrucke’s grandmother’s house, and along for the ride and companionship were his pals Don Miescke and Richard Nelson.
