Lomira Graduate Delivers UW Oshkosh Commencement Address

Posted

On May 16, Grant Luedtke, a 2024 graduate of Lomira High School and recent University of Wisconsin Oshkosh finance graduate, delivered the student commencement address
during UW Oshkosh’s afternoon commencement ceremony.
Luedtke completed his finance degree in just two years while studying in the UW Oshkosh Honors College. During his time at UW Oshkosh, he balanced a full course
loaded with student leadership, campus involvement, and finance-related experiences, and graduated with a 3.85 grade point average.

“Being chosen to speak at commencement was a meaningful honor,” said Grant Luedtke. “The moment gave me a chance to reflect on both his college experience and the
people who helped me along the way.”
In his commencement address, Luedtke encouraged his classmates to slow down and appreciate the people, memories, and moments around them.
His message focused on the idea that success should not only be measured by how quickly people move forward, but also by whether they recognize what is already in front of them.
Luedtke spoke about entering college with a mindset focused on speed, achievement, and getting ahead. After completing his degree in four semesters, he reflected on how
college taught him that life is not only about reaching the next goal. It is also about appreciating the relationships and experiences that shape a person along the way.
His speech also included themes of family, gratitude, personal loss, and perspective. Luedtke reminded graduates that the people who support them are often the most
an important part of the journey.
For Luedtke, the opportunity was especially meaningful because of his connection to the Lomira community. Only two years after graduating from Lomira High School, he
stood before fellow UW Oshkosh graduates, families, faculty, and university leaders to represent the Class of 2026.
“I am grateful for the support he received from his family, professors, classmates, and the local community that helped shape me before college,” said Luedtke.
