This year, the Lomira Area Fundraiser held its annual fundraiser on March 25. The funds are donated each year to one of four fire departments: Lomira Fire Department, Brownsville Fire Company, Knowles Volunteer Fire Department, or Theresa Fire Department.
This year, Knowles Volunteer Fire Department was the recipient of the fundraiser. On May 12, the Lomira Area Fundraiser presented a check for $79,356.38 to the Knowles Volunteer Fire Department for funds raised on the night of the fundraiser. Knowles Volunteer Fire Department will be using the money toward the purchase of a new pumper/tender to replace the 1987 Mack tender pictured.
This was the 26th Lomira Area Fundraiser, and it has raised over $1.2 million over the 26 fundraisers for these four departments.
“The Knowles Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the Lomira Area Fundraiser, the fundraiser committee, and the community that has supported this fundraiser. The money raised has helped us purchase equipment over the years that would have been outside the scope of our budget. Each year, the Knowles Volunteer Fire Department has received money from the Lomira Area Fundraiser, the amount awarded has exceeded what our annual operating budget is, so this is a huge benefit to our department. Thank you again to all those involved,” said Chief Jason Kuehl.
