Horicon School Board President Highlights Growth in District

Posted

Meredith Strieff has been the Horicon School Board President since 2020 and is serving her current term of 2024-2027. She has been on the school board since April 2018.

Strieff was born and raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 2003. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. In 2024 she graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin-Madison. This includes a certificate of Executive Leadership from the School of Business there as well.

Additionally, she has been working for Horicon Bank for the past 19 years and is Senior Vice President of Retail Banking.

With some consideration after moving to Dodge County in 2007 from Colorado Springs, COLO., she agreed to run for a spot on the school board.

Strieff said, “After moving into the town of Oak Grove, I was asked to consider joining the board by the current board representative for the township. They had served on the board for many years and was looking to pursue other adventures.”

Later she was appointed Board President when former Board President Tina Streblow unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away in January of 2020.

As Board President she said the school district has seen growth, which includes the transition to a one-campus district. Horicon Elementary School also has achieved Blue Ribbon School status.

“The addition of a privately funded state-of-the-art athletic complex was a major accomplishment, and I look to continue to support this outstanding performance and drive strong community support and involvement for our students and our district long into the future,” Strieff mentioned.

Outside of the school board she has been a member of the Horicon Athletic Booster Club since 2015 as the Membership Chair. Strieff volunteers for the Horicon American Legion baseball program and the Rock River Youth Baseball Club.

Strieff explained, “Professionally, I am the Vice-Chair of the American Banker’s Association’s (ABA) Emerging Leader’s Council which brings me to Washington DC to meet with our legislators and policy makers several times a year, while traveling throughout the country with the ABA.”

By serving on the Horicon School Board, Strieff says that she is able to give back to her community and school district, both of which have had a large impact on her family.

“It is both a responsibility and a privilege to help ensure future generations of students have access to the same high-quality educational opportunities that have benefited our family,” Strieff said. With all three of her children attending school in Horicon she has seen the dedication that teachers, coaches and staff have put into the school.

Strieff concluded, “At the end of the day, I am a parent, community member and someone who cares deeply about the future of Horicon. I am proud of what our district has accomplished and remain committed to supporting continued growth, innovation and opportunities that prepare our students for success both inside and outside the classroom. I am grateful for the trust our community places in its Board members and look forward to continuing to serve in a way that makes our district and community proud.”

Seeing the district grow with student achievement, athletic and extracurricular participation and overall enrollment are her future goals.
