Four members of the Iron Ridge Fire Department were recognized for outstanding commitment and leadership during the annual Chief’s Choice Awards, held Dec. 13 at the department’s Christmas party.
The Chief’s Choice Award, described by Fire Chief Jason Keller as “the highest level of recognition within our organization,” was presented to Firefighter Randy Sellnow, Firefighter Curt Schellinger, Fire/EMS Captain Kelly Keller, and Firefighter Caleb Prasser.
“This award is not routinely granted, nor is it attainable through standard performance alone,” Chief Keller said. “It honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment, sustained excellence, performance, and leadership that consistently exceeds established expectations.”
The challenge coin award, revived this year by Chief Keller, bears ten core values: Accountability, Respect, Competency, Safety, Service, Courage, Compassion, Teamwork, Professionalism, and Integrity. Recipients are chosen by the department’s chief officers for making a significant impact within the organization and the community.
Firefighter Randy Sellnow was recognized for his dedication and service on the Board of Directors and Park Board, as well as his role-model leadership in public service. Keller noted Sellnow’s family’s deep ties to emergency services, including his wife, Laura, and son Derrick, who also serve with the IRFD, and his son Devin and son-in-law Scott, who serve with Mayville EMS and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, respectively.
