Carl N. Tighe


Carl N. Tighe, 801 Dayton Street, Mayville, was called home to his Lord and Savior on July 12, 2019, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac after a brief battle with bone cancer. Carl was born September 23, 1939, in LeRoy to Walter and Elizabeth (Stadler) Tighe. He attended St. Andrews Catholic School and Mayville High School graduating in 1959. Carlie was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville, as well as the Mayville American Legion. Carlie began his working career as a roofer with his father and later years with his brothers “Pat” and brother Jerry and lastly his brother Ken Tighe and brotherin- law, Max Strasser. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves from 1959 through the Berlin Crisis. Later he ran the Breeze Inn Bar between Mayville and Theresa and after that the Breeze Inn in Mayville. He became the co-owner of Woods Bridge on Lake Sinissippi and in 1986 bought The Pub Supper Club in Mayville. In 1990 he married his best friend and partner, Luanne Margelofsky Muche. Together they ran The Pub until their retirement in 2007. Carlie touched the lives of many people and made lifelong friends during the years he ran his businesses. He will be remembered for always having a smile on his face, making the best Old Fashioned, and lending an attentive ear to your problems and joys. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Carlie was an avid Badger and Packer fan (even in the bad years), also a fan of stock car racing where he supported his nephews Sam Strasser, Pat Tighe, and Mike Tighe in their hobby. He also enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and trying to beat his granddaughter, Mataya, in cribbage. Those Carlie leaves behind to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Luanne; step-daughters, Janell (Bret) Loescher of Watertown, JoAnn (Scott Locks) Reed of Lomira; step-daughterin- law, Michelle Muche Trombley and her husband Todd; grandchildren, Jordan Muche, Gavin, Miles and Grace Loescher and his little “princess” Mataya Reed; mother-in-law, Verda Margelofsky; sisters, Phyllis Strasser, Patsy Rusch and Georgene (Dan) Kohli; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Tighe, Sue Tighe, Dick and Karen Spiering, Merle and Lorraine Margelofsky, Larry and Cindy Margelofsky, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Those awaiting Carlie in heaven are his parents, Walter and Elizabeth; step-son, Joel Muche; sisters and brothers, Sebastian “Pat” (Esther) Tighe, Irene (Frank) Youngbeck, Maxine Tighe, Alice (Melvin) Guse, Jerry Tighe, and Ken Tighe; brothers-in-law, Max Strasser and Freeland Rusch; and fatherin- law, Elmer Margelofsky. The family greeted friends and family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville on Tuesday, July 16, from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial for Carlie was held on Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 112 S. German Street, in Mayville with Rev. Tom Biersack officiating. Burial of Carlie’s cremated remains will be held at a later date at Graceland Cemetery. The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Carlie’s arrangements. Walter “Wally” E. Schwartz

Walter “Wally” E. Schwartz


Walter “Wally” E. Schwartz, 91, of Allenton, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, at Cedar Community, West Bend after a brief illness. Walter was born on November 27, 1927, in the Town of Addison, to parents, Joseph and Agnes (Schmidt) Schwartz He was united in marriage to Agnes Van Beek on September 28, 1949, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception, Barton. In his earlier years, he started hauling can milk and then in 1946 at the age of 19, he started his own business, Schwartz Trucking hauling livestock, grain and canning crops along with white washing hundreds of dairy barns. In 1947 he bought a farm in the town of Addison where he and Agnes farmed and ran the trucking company together. Then in 1972 they quit milking and started raising veal calves, steers and hogs. In 1979 Gary joined Walter in the livestock and grain business and in 1981 Rick joined Walter in the whitewashing business. A hard day’s work was Wally’s best day. Being devoted to his farming customers and which usually included a couple of stories of the old days and even when Walter was a little under the weather a quick gargle with kerosene was always his cure all. Even in his 90’s, Walter’s real passion was driving his tractor and working the land with polka music playing. Walter is survived by his loving children, Rick, Jacqueline (J.B.) Howard, Gary (Nancy) and Judy (Kurt) Goeman; cherished grandchildren, Austin and Tanner Goeman, Josh and Kinsey Birkholz, Gina and Ryan Iseler; great-grandchildren, Grace and Gabe Birkholz; dear siblings, Ed (Louise) Schwartz; sister-in-law, Rosemary Fickert; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Agnes of 66 years; parents; brother, Herbert (Lucille); sister, Rosella (Clem) Langenecker; brothers and sister-in-law, Furdie Fickert, Florence (Kenneth) Hefter and Hubert Van Beek. Walter said many times how much he enjoyed living at Cedar Community where he spent many hours praying the holy rosary for all of us. The family would like to sincerely thank everyone at Cedar Community and the Cedar Community Hospice nurses for their love and great care of our dad. He will be sadly missed by all. Darlene A. Shaudvitis

Darlene A. Shaudvitis


Darlene A. Shaudvitis of Fond du Lac passed away, peacefully, on July 3, 2019 at Hospice Home of Hope. Darlene was born July 6, 1934, the daughter of Harold and Doris Wrucke Johnson. She married Leonard Shaudvitis on September 27, 1952 in Marshaltown, Iowa. Leonard preceded her in death on April 19, 2001. Darlene worked mostly as a homemaker and mother. She also did daycare for friends and family. Darlene enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards with her sisters and an occasional trip to the casino. Above all, Darlene enjoyed and cherished her family. She felt so blessed to have such a great family but it was the family that was so blessed to have her in their lives. Survivors include daughter Diane (Paul) Shafer of Amery and sons Rick (Jodi) Shaudvitis and Lonnie Shaudvitis, both of Fond du Lac; grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Kreisler, Michelle (Will) Frederick, Brenda (Rob) Johnson, Sarah (Shane) Tischer and Heather (Tim) Russo, Josh (Cassie) Shaudvitis, Jamie Shaudvitis and Jesse Shaudvitis; greatgrandchildren Ashley, Austin, Lauryn, Lane, Brandon, Brianna, Hallie, Mike, Cassie, Kenzie, Myka, Logan, Jayce and Nevaeh; and great-greatgrandchild, Layla. Darlene is also survived by two sisters, Fern Krief of Campbellsport and Evelyn De-Schmidt of West Bend, one brother, George (Dorothy) Johnson of Sebring, FL and sisterin- law, Laverne Johnson of Grafton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; sisters Mildred Krief, Lois Straub, and Faye Wallenfeltz; and brothers Norman Johnson and Donald Johnson. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Home of Hope for the loving care and support given to our mother. Cremation has taken place. Ida Unertl, 96, was received by the Lord on July 1, 2019, at Matthews of Horicon surrounded by her loving family. Ida Helen Mayer was born on April 24, 1923, in Rozellville, the daughter of Martin and Anne Katherine (Strauss) Mayer the sixth child of 10 and grew up in Millador.She was united in marriage to George Unertl on May 8, 1940, in Vesper.She and her husband, George, farmed in Dodge County on Wildcat Road and Hochheim Road.She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa and a member of the Mayville Senior Center. She was a leader of 4H, participating in the Dodge County Fair. Ida was also a member of the Dodge Co. Farm Bureau, Dodge Farm Bureau Woman of the Year 1983.In her earlier years, Ida enjoyed raising chicks and selling eggs to local stores, gardening, picking strawberries, and playing cards.In her later years, she enjoyed going to the casino and traveling. Ida loved spending time with her family.Ida is survived by her children, Robert (Susie) Unertl of Columbus, Carolyn (Curtis) Mueller of Hustisford, Jerri Frank of Hartford, Joan (Gary) Boser of Allegany, NY, Dan (Marion) Unertl of Hartford, Steve (Donna) Unertl of Theresa, Stan (Monica) Unertl of Theresa, Ginny (Ralph Jr.) McMullen of Horicon, Cliff (Debbie) Unertl of Fond du lac, Scott (Julie) Unertl of Greenwood;  daughters-in-law, Michelle Seerling and Barb Lischka; her sister, Irene Haumschild; 28 grandchildren, 36 greatgrandchildren, five great- great- grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1980; sons, David, Russell and Randy; granddaughter, Lauren Unertl; three brothers and five sisters.A visitation for Ida was held on Tuesday, July 9, from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.A Mass of Christian Burial began at 2 p.m. at church with Fr. Eleanor C. Kulow


Eleanor C. Kulow (nee Stoffel), 100, of Campbellsport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 2, 2019 at Ivy Manor. She was born on December 15, 1918, in Campbellsport, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Stoffel (nee Becker) and on June 13, 1942, she married Albert “Pee Wee” Kulow. Eleanor worked at Stella Cheese, was a child care provider, and also worked at St. Joseph’s Convent as a housekeeper. She was an avid reader and loved watching the Brewers. Those Eleanor leaves behind to cherish her memory include her niece and nephews, Melvin (Genny) Stoffel, Ralph (Ruth) Stoffel, Frank (Donna) Stoffel, Kathy (Kenny) Jungers, Donny (Eileen) Stoffel, and Tony (Pam) Stoffel. She is further survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a greatgreat- great nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Pee Wee”; her son, Roger Kulow; her brother, Frank (Tillie) Stoffel; and her sisters, Agnes (Leander) Beisbier and Marie Stoffel. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 320 E. Main St., Campbellsport. Rev. Mark Jones officiated and burial took place immediately following Mass at St. Matthew’s Cemetery. Eleanor’s family greeted relatives and friends at church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Donald “Don” N. Behnke Jr.


Donald (Don) N. Behnke Jr., 78, of Neshkoro, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, with his family by his side.

He was born July 24, 1940, to Donald and Caroline (Lifke) Behnke of Mayville.

Don was united in marriage to Judy (Plansky) on April 8, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville.

Don graduated from Mayville High School in 1958.

For many years he enjoyed a career as a carpenter. His talent allowed him to build the house where he raised his family and lived for 33 years in Burnett. He was always happy to share his carpentry talent to help family and friends.

As a young man, Don worked with his father in the bulk milk hauling business, Behnke Trucking. In1977,Don purchased Behnke Trucking from his parents making it a third generation family business. He expanded the business to two quad axle milk trucks and eventually two quad axle dump trucks. He and his father happily served Wisconsin dairy farmers for over a century In 1999, Don sold Behnke Trucking Inc. so he could enjoy retirement.

Don was a volunteer firefighter for Burnett and an avid golfer. He loved taking his 1965 Mustang to car shows placing first many times. Don and Judy retired to their dream home in Neshkoro on Silver Springs Lake where they enjoyed giving family and friends rides on their pontoon. Don especially loved fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During the winter months, Don and Judy enjoyed the warmer temperatures in Sun City, AZ.

Don was a kind person and a great listener who was always willing to give his advice and lend a helping hand to his family and friends. He was well loved by everyone and will be sadly missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy of 58 years, four children, Jeff (Carrie) Behnke, Scott Behnke, Lisa Cole, Lori (Curt) Loeffler; seven grandchildren, Emily, Preston, Joe (Keeley), Julia, Logan, Dylan, Jordan; and three greatgrandchildren, Ryder, Jaxton and Keanna. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Bill) Mueller and brother, Pobe (Barb) Behnke. He is further survived by six sister-in-laws, Dorie (Don) Gourlie, Joan (Dennis) Hodgson, Elaine Schabel, Mary (Bob) Bonack and Peggy Streit; one brother-in-law, Aurthur (Jean) Plansky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Art Plansky and Jeanette (Leander) Jurgensmier.

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 8, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. at Koepsell Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.

A celebration of life for Don will take place on Monday, July 8, at 12 p.m. at the Koepsell Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding.

Cindy L. Geddes

Cindy L. Geddes


Cindy L. Geddes, 63, of Fox Lake passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019, at UW Hospital in Madison with her loving family by her side.

Cindy was born the daughter of Orville and Annabelle (Marthaler) Brandenburg on January 1, 1956, in Beaver Dam.

She grew up in Burnett and was a graduate of Horicon High School.

Cindy was united in marriage to James B. Geddes on October 2, 2004, in Fox Lake.

Cindy had owned and operated Annabelle’s Bridals and the Sew and So Shop in Beaver Dam, alongside her family for over 15 years and then became a phlebotomist, currently working at Union Corners Clinic in Madison.

In her spare time Cindy enjoyed making memories with her family, traveling and being on the water. Whether it was boating with her husband, kayaking on Fox Lake, or going to the ocean. She took great pride in caring for her home and gardens in Fox Lake. She also enjoyed painting and horseback riding.

Cindy is survived by her daughters, Erin Pecunies of Fox Lake, Katherine (Jared) Brush Ashville, NC, and Melinda (Yury) Paryev of Sauk City; her grandchildren, Shakyah, Jonas, Finley, Maxim, Jackson, Alexander, Adrianna, Donovan, Olivia, and Ellie Mae; her step-father, Howard Gibson of Beaver Dam; mother-inlaw, Donna Geddes of Mayville; her siblings, Russell (Sue Barr) Brandenburg of Hurley, Charles Brandenburg of Utah, Krystal (Brian) Larson of Beaver Dam, and Sujen Brandenburg of Beaver Dam; her sister- in-law, Sally (John) Ralph of Madison; her step-children, Trisha (Peter) Brace, Jennifer (Brian) Hemminghaus, James Geddes, and Samuel (Jami) Geddes; her beloved canine companion, Ella; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother-in-law, Eric Geddes; and sister-in-law Sue Muenchow.

A visitation for Cindy will take place on Sunday, July 7, from 11 a.m. until the time of remembrance at 12:30 p.m. at the Koepsell Murray Funeral Home in Horicon.

A continued celebration of Cindy’s life will take place at Fox Lake American Legion Post #521 following the services in Horicon.
