Elizabeth ‘Bette’ Wilderman


   Eliz­a­beth ‘Bette’ M. Wil­der­man, 85, of Mayville, passed away peace­fully with her fam­ily by her side on Tues­day, April 2, 2024, at Marsh­field Med­ical Cen­ter in Beaver Dam.   Bette was born the daugh­ter of Ozzie and Cather­ine (nee Han­lon) Wirth on March 26, 1939, in Mil­wau­kee. She was a 1957 grad­u­ate of Rufus King High School.   Bette was united in mar­riage to Dean Wil­der­man on Sep­tem­ber 14, 1958, in Mil­wau­kee. They resided and raised three chil­dren in Mayville.   Bette was an avid sewer and made many gifts for fam­ily and friends. She also loved casino trips and play­ing cards in Mayville and Mil­wau­kee with her high school friends. Along­side her hus­band, Dean, they en­joyed many win­ter trips to Ari­zona.   Bette is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Lau­rie (Rick) Kuntz of Juneau, Daniel (Jackie) Wil­der­man of Mayville, and David (Sheri) Wil­der­man of Quin­ney; her grand­chil­dren, Danielle (Eric) Burich, Stephanie (Andy) Adameitz, and Zachary Wil­der­man; her pride and joy great-grand­chil­dren, Sawyer and Ben­nett Burich, and Finnegan and Lucy Eliz­a­beth Adameitz; sis­ters-in-law, Jonell (Rick) Bus­laff and Kay Wil­der­man; fur­ther sur­vived by nieces, nephews, other rel­a­tives and friends.   She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; hus­band, Dean; brother, Robert Wirth; and her in-laws, Ralph and Ade­line Wil­der­man.   Per Bette’s wishes, no for­mal ser­vices will be held.   Spe­cial thanks to the staff of the 3rd floor Marsh­field Med­ical Cen­ter and Dr. Shawn Antle for the care and sup­port shown to Bette and her fam­ily.   Memo­ri­als may be di­rected to Leader Dogs for the Blind.   Koepsell Fu­neral Home in Mayville is serv­ing the fam­ily. www.​KoepsellFH.​com

Joseph A. Magyar

Joseph A. Magyar


   Joseph A. Magyar Jr., 97, of Mayville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Crossroads Care Center in Mayville.   Joe was born the son of Joseph Sr. and Elizabeth (Albert) Magyar on May 29, 1926, in Akron, OH.   He was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.   Joe was united in marriage to LaVerne Machmueller on October 23, 1948, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.    Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for many years at Maysteel and John Deere, where he later retired from. Joe was a skilled welder and used that knowledge to craft beautiful projects out of wood. He was always tinkering in his workshop and proudly created birdhouses, squirrel feeders, toys. Joe could “build it better” and once even crafted a go cart and scooter for his sons, when they were little. Joe was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan.    Joe is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne; sons, AlRay Magyar and Dennis (Nancy) Magyar; grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Olson, Jenny (Jeff) Jasperson, and Casey (Jay) Patey; great-grandchildren, Molly and Garrett Olson, Reagan and Xander Patey, and Owen and Eila Jasperson. Joe is further survived by other relatives and friends.   Joe was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John, Catherine, Elizabeth, Julianna, and George.   In honoring the wishes of Joe’s family, a private family gathering will be held at a later time.   The family would like to thank Crossroads Care Center in Mayville, SSM Hospice, St. Agnes Hospital, and Rev. Arlene M. Bonack


 Arlene M. Bonack (nee Fink), 96, of Theresa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira.   Arlene was born the daughter of Richard, Sr. and Amilda (Neumann) Fink on July 10, 1927.   She was united in marriage to Gilbert Bonack on August 17, 1946, at St. Peter’s in Kekoskee.   Arlene worked for Hanni Cheese Factory and also alongside her husband who was a lifelong farmer in the Township of Theresa.   She was an active member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, serving her church on the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, and the Luther Society. Arlene was also a member of the Mayville Legion Auxiliary.    In her spare time, Arlene loved to travel with her husband and family, seeing much of the world.    Arlene is survived by her children, David (Joan) Bonack of Theresa, Lois (Allen) Wetzel of Kekoskee, and Donald (Kim) Bonack of Mayville; her brother, Richard Jr. (Dorothy) Fink; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Feucht, Julia (Mike) Schramek, Jeffrey (Laura) Bonack, Jared Bonack, Brian (Kendra) Wetzel, Dustin (Emily) Bonack, and Cory (Cassandra) Bonack; her great-grandchildren, Wesley, Elisha, Julien, Josiah, Victoria, Emma, Rose, Anna, Hayden, Hailey, Zander, Sydney, Caden, Beckett, Emmett, Henry, Scarlett, Cayden; and one great-grandchild on the way; great-great-grandchildren, Declan, Astrid, Essme, and Silas.; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gilbert; sister, Geraldine (Earl) Weiss; and sister-in-law, Norma (Percy) Brown; and brother-in-law, Elmer (Evelyn) Bonack; three sisters and one brother in infancy.   A funeral service for Arlene will take place on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee with Rev. William Carter officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Elisabeth “Liz” Jane Garriety


 Elis­a­beth “Liz” Jane Gar­ri­ety (nee Feucht), 82, of Lomira, passed away peace­fully at home on Easter Sun­day with her fam­ily by her side.    She was born on Oc­to­ber 19, 1941, to the late Anton and Kather­ine (nee Kral) Feucht on the fam­ily farm in rural Knowles. Liz at­tended grade school down the road from the home­stead at Hick­ory Grove School, grad­u­ated from Mayville High School in 1960, and mar­ried the love of her life, Ed­ward “Ed” Gar­ri­ety, on July 23, 1960. To­gether they resided in Nas­bro until they moved to Lomira in 1964.   Liz was a de­voted wife, mother, grand­mother, great-grand­mother, and won­der­ful mother-in-law. She was also a spe­cial “grandma” to nu­mer­ous chil­dren that she cooked for in the Lomira School Dis­trict for over 30 years.    Liz was bap­tized, con­firmed, and mar­ried at St. An­drew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy and was a mem­ber of St. Mary’s Parish in Lomira. Liz en­joyed count­less hours gar­den­ing, can­ning, fam­ily camp­ing trips, and never missed a chance to watch a con­cert or sport­ing event of her chil­dren, grand­chil­dren, and great-grand­chil­dren. Be­side her faith, her fam­ily came first in life. She showed that love by the nu­mer­ous home-cooked meals she made. Mom will al­ways be re­mem­bered for her mo­lasses cook­ies, red cake, and Ger­man potato salad.   Those Elis­a­beth leaves be­hind to cher­ish her mem­ory in­clude her five chil­dren, Christina “Tina” (Mark) Mueller, Patrick “Pat” (Kris) Gar­ri­ety, Michael “Mike” (Linda) Gar­ri­ety, Tim­o­thy “Tim” (Angie) Gar­ri­ety, and Dar­cie (Rick) Heberer; 17 grand­chil­dren, Scott (Natasha) Mueller, Lee (Emma) Mueller, Brit­tany (Michael) Merk, Kelly Mueller, Jenna (Max) Larsen, Erin (Bryce) Ban­nach, Becka (friend, Eric Fritsch) Gar­ri­ety, Mitchell Gar­ri­ety, Tyler (friend, Cassie New­comer) Gar­ri­ety, Cam­ryn Gar­ri­ety, McKenna (friend, Mason Neu­man) Gar­ri­ety, Ben Gar­ri­ety, Eli Jo Gar­ri­ety, and Katie (friend, Noah Lemke) Gar­ri­ety, and Zachary, Jacob and Nathan Heberer; 11 great-grand­chil­dren, Aiden, Vaeda, Dekker, Jaxon, Ivy, Mil­lie, Oliver, Beau, Reed, Hazel, and Lin­coln (whom she got to hold just hours be­fore she passed); four sis­ters, Ruth (Jerry) Gassner, Pat (Stan) Waas, Joann Janz, and Kathy (Lyle) Beis­tle; two broth­ers, Tony “Skip” (Mary) Feucht and Eddie Feucht; sis­ter-in-law, Janet Falk; as well as many nieces, nephews, other rel­a­tives, and friends.   In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band of 60 years, Ed Gar­ri­ety; two sis­ters, Au­drey and Judy Feucht; sib­lings-in-law, Dick Falk and Joel (Kath­leen) Luedtke; niece, Tracy Flit­ter; and nephew, Tony Feucht.    VIS­I­TA­TION: Elis­a­beth’s fam­ily will greet rel­a­tives and friends on Fri­day, April 12, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at St. An­drew’s Catholic Church, W3081 County Rd.    Cynthia Jane Volz, 73, of Green Bay, passed away on March 26, 2024, surrounded by her family.    Cynthia’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay. Burial will take place at Hochheim Cemetery (Town of Herman). John David Wrucke

John David Wrucke


   John David Wrucke, 86, of Horicon, passed away at his home on Monday, March 25, 2024.    John was born the son of Royce and Rosella (Sohre) Wrucke Sr. on July 7, 1937, in Beaver Dam. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1955. After high school, John attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also played football. He was extremely proud of this achievement, but was not one to boast, so many did not even know this about John.   John married the love of his life, Lynn Smith, on August 24, 1957, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon.    John was a lifelong, active member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. He instilled in his children very early on that making time for church was a priority. When something at church needed to be done, John was there to lend a hand. He ushered, was an elder, and even coached St. Stephen’s basketball, when his son was on the team. John’s dedication and passion for farming was shown daily by the great care he took in everything he did. He started out farming with his father, then his brother, and most recently his grandson. Many unforgettable memories about the time spent together as a family will never be forgotten by all who knew and loved John. John was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, as well as trout fishing along with biking.   John is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; his son, Wesley (Pamela) Wrucke of Evansville, IN; his daughter, Tammie (Jeffery) Koenigs of Horicon; grandchildren, Joshua (Kendall) Wrucke, Jodi (Justin) Schraufnagel, Joseph (Elsa) Gerth, Connor Wrucke, Christian (Caleb) O’Brien; four great-grandchildren, Jasper and Jordy; John and Margaret; and brother, Steve Wrucke. John is further survived by other relatives and friends.    John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Royce Jr.   Funeral services for John took place on Monday, April 1, at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon with Rev. Mark C. Wilkens officiating. A visitation for John took place at church on Monday, April 1, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Interment followed the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.    Memorials in memory of John may be directed to St. Stephen Ev. Valeria “Val” Mae Goss


 Va­le­ria “Val” Mae Goss passed away peace­fully on Sun­day, March 24, 2024, at The Charleston House in Beaver Dam.   Val was born the daugh­ter of Eric and Martha (Col­lien) Wag­ner on March 4, 1937, in Lomira.   She grad­u­ated from Lomira High School.   Val was united in mar­riage to William Goss on De­cem­ber 7, 1957, in Lomira. After they were mar­ried, the cou­ple moved to Farm­ersville and later to Fox Lake in 2000.    Val was in­volved with many small busi­nesses in the Mayville area.   She was a faith­ful mem­ber of St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Knowles. Val was very cre­ative and en­joyed cro­chet­ing, cross-stitch­ing, and quilt­ing. She also en­joyed play­ing bingo. Above all, Val cher­ished and loved her fam­ily and looked for­ward to spend­ing time with them when­ever she could.    Val is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Dale (Deb) Goss, Dan (Pauline) Goss, and David (Judy) Goss; four grand­chil­dren; and six great-grand­chil­dren.   Val was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; her hus­band, William; son, Duane Goss; sis­ter, Carol Wag­ner; and step-sis­ter, Lav­erne Vill­wock.   A vis­i­ta­tion for Val will take place on Mon­day, April 1, at the Koepsell Fu­neral Home in Mayville from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. A pri­vate fam­ily fu­neral ser­vice will be held with Rev. Matthew Kuske of­fi­ci­at­ing.    Eve­lyn Ella Rad­schlag, 93, of Hart­ford, passed away Fri­day, March 15, 2024, after say­ing good­bye to her fam­ily, friends, and staff, where she resided for the last 11 years at the Gar­dens of Hart­ford.   Eve­lyn was born Feb­ru­ary 2, 1931, in Pack­wau­kee, to Ella (nee Baer­wolf) and Au­gust Fredrick.   Eve­lyn at the age of 17 was united in mar­riage to 20-year-old Robert R. Rad­schlag on June 27, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neosho. To­gether they en­joyed fish­ing, trav­el­ing, and snow-bird­ing in Ari­zona for nearly eight years.   Eve­lyn was a long­time mem­ber of Peace Lutheran Church in Hart­ford and also a mem­ber of their Ladies Aide for many years. She was on the PTA at Saylesville School. Eve­lyn en­joyed cook­ing, gar­den­ing, and above all else she loved spend­ing time with her fam­ily, chil­dren, and grand­chil­dren. Eve­lyn will be re­mem­bered fondly of her gift to help oth­ers see the lighter side of life.   Eve­lyn is sur­vived by her lov­ing chil­dren, Richard Rad­schlag of Brown Deer, Judy Beilke of Slinger, Bar­bara (Nick) Schi­es­tel of Grass Val­ley, CA, and Robert Rad­schlag of Lu­goff, SC; nine cher­ished grand­chil­dren, and 11 cher­ished great-grand­chil­dren; and dear sis­ter, Norma Funk of Mon­ti­cello.    She was pre­ceded in death by her beloved hus­band of 70 years, Robert; her par­ents; par­ents-in-law, Clara (nee Troeller) and Al­bert Rad­schlag; sib­lings, Elmer Fredrick, Meta Mahnke, Harold Fredrick, Bon­nie (Jim) Wil­son, Ed­ward (Helen) Fredrick, Betty (Howard) Hoeft, and Velma Vick; sis­ter-in-law, Helen (Wilmer) Frank; daugh­ters-in-law, Nicki (nee Hughes) Rad­schlag-De­Mars and Lau­rie (nee Kopi­ness) Rad­schlag; and grand­sons, Troy Allen Rad­schlag and Lee Daniel Rad­schlag.   A pri­vate com­mit­tal ser­vice for Eve­lyn will be held at Pleas­ant Hill Ceme­tery, Hart­ford.   Con­tri­bu­tions in mem­ory of Eve­lyn and her love of chil­dren and an­i­mals are ap­pre­ci­ated to the Wash­ing­ton County Hu­mane So­ci­ety and/or to Peace Lutheran School.   The Shi­mon Fu­neral Home served the fam­ily. Jacqueline “Jackie” Bechert Schiess

Jacqueline “Jackie” Bechert Schiess


   Jacqueline (Jackie) Bechert Schiess, 91, of Mayville, formerly of Horicon, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Crossroads of Mayville.    Jackie was born on March 28, 1932, on the family farm in Horicon to John and Sophia (Belover) Bechert.   Jackie was married to Roger C. Schiess on December 20, 1952. Together they were blessed with 71 years of marriage and made countless wonderful memories with family and friends. Jackie was a longtime member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.   Jackie attended a one-room school through sixth grade and then attended Horicon Public Schools. After graduation, she attended Dodge County Normal School in Mayville and obtained a teaching certificate.    Jackie then taught grades 1 to 4 at Woodland State Grade School and continued her education at Marian College (University) in Fond du Lac, where she obtained her teacher's degree in education. Jackie then joined her husband at Fort Leonard in Wood, Missouri, while he was stationed there in the Army. Jackie took some time away from teaching to focus on having her daughter, Sheryl. Once they returned to Wisconsin, she worked in Browns Corner teaching 38 students in grades 1 to 8 in a one-room schoolhouse.    She later joined the Mayville School District teaching third grade and continuing her education at UW-Milwaukee. Jackie worked 38 years for the district. Upon her retirement, she went on to substitute for the Mayville District for 11 years.   Jackie was a member of the Dodge County Retired Educators. She was a lifetime member of Wisconsin Retired Educator and a lifetime member of the National Retired Educators.   In Jackie’s spare time, she enjoyed fishing, crocheting, camping, golfing, and dancing. She looked forward to travelling and spending time with her extended family.   Jackie is survived by her husband, Roger, of Mayville; daughter, Sheryl (Randy) Feucht of Mayville; grandchildren, Jason Feucht of Pewaukee and Jeremy (Nicole) Feucht of Mayville; great-grandchildren, Avah, Tristen, and Henley Feucht; siblings-in-law, Jerry (Diane) Moede, Donna (Walter) Bushkie, Loren Moede, and Roy Moede. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.    Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; two sisters in infancy; sisters, Eunice (Vernon) Mielke, Lucille (Tom) Vorpahl; brother, Hurley (Dorthy) Bechert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ethel (George) Heinecke, Myrna Michaels, Larry Moede, and Beth Moede. Also preceded in death by nieces and nephews.   A funeral service for Jackie took place on Tuesday, March 12, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with the Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler officiating. Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment took place at St. John’s Cemetery in Mayville.   Jackie’s family would like to thank the Mayville EMS, Mayville Police Department, the nurses and doctors especially on the 5th floor at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Crossroads Care Center of Mayville, Koepsell Funeral Home, and SSM Hospice.
