Ronald W. Ulrich, 87, of Horicon, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon. Ron was born the son of Emil and Viola (Hintz) Ulrich on November 14, 1933, in Horicon. Upon graduating from Horicon High School in 1951, Ronald joined the US Navy. He served for four years, being honorably discharged in 1956. While in the Navy, he married the love of his life, Ruth Jaquet, on December 18, 1954. Anyone that knew Ron knew that besides his family, he loved to hunt, fish, and anything to do with the outdoors. He enjoyed taking people fishing on Lake Michigan on his boat. You could always count on him being the life of the party, telling countless jokes. He loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth of Horicon; his children, Linda (Robert) Wilson, and Lisa (Todd) Wanie, Larry (Jamie) Ulrich; his grandchildren, Erin and Ethan Wilson, Katie (Daniel) Ready, Adam (special friend Elizabeth Lillard) Wanie, Emily (Scott) Feucht, Christopher Ulrich, and Kayla (Matt) Rex; his great-grandchildren, Porter, Conway, and Patsy Feucht, Henry, Penelope and Avrie Wanie. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Glen Ulrich. Donald W. Schlegel, 83, of Horicon passed away on November 23, 2020, at Crossroads Care Center in Mayville. Don was born the son of Wilbur and Alice (Werner) Schlegel on July 9, 1937, in Horicon. He was a 1955 graduate of Horicon High School. Don then went on to spend four years in the US Air Force. He was then united in marriage to Diane Bolstad at St. Stephen Lutheran Church on September 28, 1963. He was employed at Gehl Co. in West Bend for 25 years, then at Metal Craft in Mayville for the next 10 years until his retirement in 2001. Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and long walks along the Horicon Marsh. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Don is survived by his wife, Diane, of Horicon; his daughters, Debbie (Todd) Wolter of Mayville and Sherry (Vic) Apfelbeck of Mayville; his step-sons, Dennis (Bri) Bolstad of Horicon and Greg (Diane) Bolstad of Horicon; his grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Gorman, Amy Meimann, Adam (Leah) Bolstad, Tanya (Brent) Beine, Trever (Kendra) Apfelbeck, Jeremy Wolter, and Courtney Wolter; his great-grandchildren, Keaton, Colin, Abby, Rylee, Mitch, Mason and Seth; his brothers-in -law, Donald Kehl and Jerrey Stefan; further survived by other relatives and many friends. Florence Feucht, 90, of Mayville, born the daughter of Herbert and Mathilda (Scheberl) Wild on March 18, 1930, passed away at St Francis Terrace on November 23, 2020. She married the love of her life, Norman Feucht on September 17, 1949. They settled on Dayton Street where they lovingly raised their three daughters. Florence was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. Florence was soft-spoken, loving, kind and humble. She created a home for her family that was filled with love, respect, security, and great meals. Everyone was welcome and made to feel at home. When she wasn’t caring for her husband, children and grandchildren she could be found serving funeral meals at St. Mary’s, or helping their quilters. The quiet decency of the life she lived was an example to all. In the final years of her life, she and Norm resided at St Francis Terrace where they quickly earned the love of the St Francis staff. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dale) Fredrickson of New Berlin and their son Scott (Erin) Fredrickson and great-granddaughter, Remy Fredrickson; daughter, Diane Bauer (husband, Bill Leindecker) and her son, TJ Steinbach; daughter, Debbie Schultz and her children, Meghan (Ryan) Amundson and Holly Schultz. Ione Elizabeth Baerwald, 83, passed at her Mayville home after an extended illness, on November 25, 2020. She was born on September 19, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Irene Youngbeck and her brothers “Butch” and Allen Youngbeck. Ione will be greatly missed by her loving and caring husband Emil Baerwald, who she married November 30, 1956. She is survived by daughters, Amy Baerwald of Grants Pass, OR; Chris and her husband, Scott Hibben, and their children, Jordan and Taylor of Mesa, AZ; Terri Baerwald, and her wife, Barb and their children and grandchildren of Gig Harbor, WA; Sue Baerwald and her wife Linn, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Fox Lake. She is also survived by her brother, Jim and his wife, Noel Youngbeck of Beaver Dam, and their sons, Nathan and Michael. Ione imparted her love for adventure and travel to all of her daughters. She was an avid walker and would be seen out walking no matter the weather. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting many sweaters, afghans, scarves and other items for family, friends and often donated one of her creations for a raffle or bazaar for charity. Clement ‘Clem’ J. Apfelbeck, 86, of Mayville passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020. Clem was born the son of Albert and Anna (Pecher) Apfelbeck on June 10, 1934. Clem served his country honorably in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary ‘Rosie’ Engel on August 19, 1978, in Mayville. He worked at Mayville Metal until his retirement. Clem was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. In his spare time, Clem enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with Rosie at their camper in Manchester, and taking gambling bus trips. Clem is survived by his children, Paul (Lori) Apfelbeck of Theresa, Patrick (Rhonda) Apfelbeck of Mayville, Perrie (special friend Jill) Apfelbeck of Oakfield, and Tricia (Dave) Schmidt of Wild Rose; his daughter- in-law, Kim Apfelbeck of Burnett; his step-children, Faye (Bill) Coffman, Keith Frasch, and Mike (JoAnn) Engel; his 11 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; further survived by other relatives and friends. Bonnie Ann (Hanson) Reetz was born November 30, 1933, in Watertown, to Earl and Myrtle (Hundertmark) Hanson. She was baptized on December 31, 1933, in Lebanon. Bonnie graduated from Mayville High School in 1951. She married Arland A. Reetz on October 4, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mayville. They enjoyed a loving marriage of 68 years. She worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Reetz Ready Mix, and later at Beaver Ready Mix. Bonnie was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. She was a member of the Horicon Garden Club and also enjoyed spending her time playing bridge and other card games, sewing, knitting, quilting, fishing, RV camping, motorcycling, traveling, entertaining family and friends, and spending time at their cottage near Park Falls, and winters in South Padre Island, TX, and Haines City, FL. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Arland; her son, Darryl (Sharon) and granddaughter, Mariah; her daughter, Darlynn (Chris) Katke, grandchildren, Brian (Britney) Katke, Lauren (Ben) Wilkerson, and great-granddaughter, Isla; her son, Bruce (Terri), granddaughter, Faline, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Angel, Azaliah, Azariah, Sevyn, grandson, Kaleb, great-grandson, Keegan, grandson, Jerod, step-grandchildren, Alicia, Jessica, Joshua (Jessica) and step-great grandson, Lucas Weissenburger; her son, Brian (Judith), granddaughter, Jenna (Alex) Kreuzer, great-grandson, Gabriel, grandson, Kyle (fiancée Kelsi), and granddaughter, Erica. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carmelita Little. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed. Karl was born at the homestead farmhouse in the Town of Ashford, to John Michael and Severa Catherine (Reisenweber) Krueger. Raised on the family farm, later he was enlisted in the National Guard, and was activated for the Berlin Crisis. At this time, he was together with Jean Arlene Luedtke of Lomira. On November 11, 1961, they were married in the chapel in Fort Lewis, WA. They celebrated 50 years on November 11, 2011, and they were able to celebrate their 59th on November 11, 2020. After his military service, the couple returned home to Ashford, where Karl worked on the family farm, and he later began a 34-year career with Wisconsin Power & Light/Alliant Energy. In the course of his career, he moved five times: Fond Du Lac, Horicon, Baraboo, Marion/Clintonville, and ending again in Baraboo, as Foreman of the service department. Together Karl and Jean traveled throughout the US and various countries in Europe. Karl had a passion for gardening and volunteering. For years to come his flowers will still be blooming. He actively volunteered and supported the Circus World Museum, Mackenzie Center in Poynette, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elks Club 688, American Legion Post 26 and served as Commander of the American Legion in 2013. Karl is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Ricky (Virginia), Stephen (Paula), Pamela (Mike), Karla; and grandchildren, Joshua Krueger, Asa and Konrad Krueger, and Kolin Uptagraw. Karl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis John; sister, Marilyn Anne; and many aunts, uncles, and many dear friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo. A service will be held at the Redlin Funeral Home, Baraboo, on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. Private burial will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac. Karl’s fun-loving personality, quick humor, and a love for toasting a drink with friends will be truly missed. When it is permissible and safe, there will be a Celebration of Life to toast and enjoy the memories of his life. He was a beloved husband to Nancy Vogt, a father to Jerome F. Vogt, and step-father to Samantha (Tom) Peek and Danielle Udelhofen (Jim), and brother to Gary (Careyann) Vogt and Tom (Teri) Vogt; uncle to Nicole, Cheyenne, Matthew, and Alyssa. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Annamarie, Phoebe, Judah, Noah, Elijah, and Henry. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Jerome Vogt; and brother, Randall Vogt. Dale was in the Navy, and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. He had a love for nature, God, his family, woodworking, and his country. He will be missed by many family and friends alike. A celebration of life service will be held at the Pentecostal House of Prayer, W3941 State Road 33, Horicon, on his birthday, November 22, at 1 pm., followed by a reception.
